The Green Beret Foundation, an organization dedicated to supporting soldiers of the U.S. Army Special Forces and their families, is pleased to announce the appointment of Command Sergeant Major (Ret.) Joseph L. Fancher and Michael Wise to its Board of Directors.
Command Sergeant Major (Ret.) Joseph L. Fancher was born and raised in the farm country of Upstate New York. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1990. While in Special Forces, Command Sgt. Maj. Fancher served as a Special Forces Engineer Sergeant, Intelligence Sergeant, Special Operations Detachment Alpha Operations Sergeant, Battalion Operations Noncommissioned Officer, Special Forces Headquarters Support Company 1st Sergeant and in multiple positions as a Sergeant Major and Command Sergeant Major. Joe has numerous deployments to the Middle East and the Special Operations Command-South area of responsibility. He culminated his 32-year military career in 2022, serving as the Command Sergeant Major for U.S. Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School – The Special Operations Center of Excellence. He earned his Master’s degree in Business and Leadership and is focused on a variety of initiatives that support Green Berets, family programs, education, conservation, agriculture, and community enrichment. Joe is the Chief Executive Officer of Southern Style Farms, founder and Principal Director of Oak Ridge Charity and Outdoor Adventures, Chief Business Development Officer for Oak Grove Technologies, and serves as an advisor to several companies. Joe is married to Nayda Fancher. The couple have two children.
Michael Wise is founder of WSDM Coaching, where he provides life and executive coaching, team training and consulting services to those seeking more intentionality, impact, and balance in their lives and businesses. Prior to that he was an Executive Vice President at the Permian Strategic Partnership and an Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Company. He served as a Medical Sergeant and Assistant Detachment Commander in 3rd and 19th Special Forces Groups, including three deployments to Afghanistan. He is a Silver Star and Bronze Star recipient. Michael has an MBA from Columbia Business School and is a graduate of the Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program. He lives in Montana with his partner, Allie, and their dog, Luna.
