2nd Annual SSG Matthew A. Pucino Memorial GORUCK

mpucino On November 23, 2009, a hero was lost to the world. At age 34, Staff Sergeant Matthew Albert Pucino laid down his life to free the oppressed. While on a combat patrol in the vicinity of Pashay Kala, Afghanistan, an improvised explosive device struck his all-terrain vehicle, thus ending this warrior’s mission. Assigned to Company B, 2nd Battalion, 20th Special Forces Group (Airborne) of the Maryland Army National Guard, Matthew was a Special Forces Operational Detachment-Alpha Intelligent Sergeant, earning numerous awards and commendations for bravery and acts of meritorious service. The GORUCK challenge is modeled after USARMY Special Forces training, this particular challenge is ran by former or current Green Berets. We use this challenge as the platform for our fundraiser, allowing participants to get their own sponsors towards the fundraiser and give that participant even more incentive to complete the grueling challenge. From this challenge the Blackbeard Ruck Team was born to continue to carry on SSG Pucino’s legacy. Sponsor an individual or donate to the team.  All proceeds benefit Green Beret Foundation and the SSG Matthew A. Pucino Memorial Foundation. pucino-goruck
