Tim Ambler

5th SFG(A) Veterans Services Officer

Tim Ambler is a former Green Beret with over 24 years of military service, 6 years as an 11H Light Anti-Armor Infantryman and 18 years as a Green Beret. During that time, he served in numerous positions in the Regiment to include: Special Forces Weapons Sergeant (18B), Special Forces Operations Sergeant (18Z), Special Forces Sniper Course II Instructor and NCOIC, and Special Forces Indoor Range NCOIC at 5th SFG (A) and a Robin Sage Chief Instructor at SWTG.

While at 5th Group he met and worked alongside Brent Cooper, Executive Director of the Green Beret Foundation. He served multiple combat rotations in both Iraq and Afghanistan as well as many other operations in the Middle East Region. His time, leadership and experiences give him a wealth of knowledge to impart and pass onto younger generations within the regiment. Tim retired in January 2021 and during the retirement process had many questions on who to talk to and how to submit his VA Claim, not knowing where to find pertinent information. He is committed to bringing that much needed information to the Special Forces Soldiers and families as a Veterans Services Officer (VSO).

Tim resides in Clarksville, TN with his girlfriend Rene, daughter Sydney (17) and son Garrett (20) who is an Infantryman in 3/75th. He spends his free time shooting, hunting, kayaking, 4 wheeling and camping with their dogs.
