We believe true strength comes from standing together. Guided by this mindset, the Green Beret Foundation is dedicated to promoting wellness in mind, body, and spirit. Below you’ll find resources from our most trusted partners, all committed to supporting the health and resiliency of the Special Forces community—past, present, and future.
The buffalo, or Tatanka, is known for charging into the storm rather than running from it. This enduring symbol represents the courage, resilience, and strength it takes to face adversity head-on and persevere through life’s challenges.
Task Force Tatanka is a Green Beret Foundation initiative dedicated to strengthening the mind, body, and spirit of Green Berets and their families. Through comprehensive resources, supportive networks, and tailored programs, the initiative fosters mental wellness and resiliency, empowering individuals and their loved ones to endure and thrive no matter the storm.
We partner with top-tier programs to provide access to care that works—trusted, confidential, and designed for warriors and their families.
At the Foundation, we believe in serving as a force multiplier. That’s why we helped establish the VALOR Coalition, founded by Veterans Exploring Treatment Solutions (VETS), the Navy SEAL Foundation, the Green Beret Foundation, and the Wounded Warrior Project. Together, we are leading the way in expanding access to evidence-based therapies and addressing the complex health challenges veterans face—including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), traumatic brain injury (TBI), substance use disorder, and chronic pain.
At the Foundation, we’ve stood alongside those who’ve walked that road. That’s why we created Task Force Tatanka—to offer real, individualized support before the storm becomes overwhelming. Here’s How It Works:
GBMT is a community-led initiative created to bring together members of the Special Forces community in a safe, supportive space. The program encourages connection, mindfulness, and camaraderie through open conversations that focus on strengthening the mind, body, and spirit. By fostering resilience and shared understanding, Green Beret Meditation offers participants a meaningful way to support one another and navigate the unique challenges of service and life beyond it.
The Headstrong Project is an independent non-profit mental health organization that provides confidential, barrier-free, and stigma-free PTSD treatment to veterans, service members, and their families. With the mission to help clients “Triumph Over Trauma,” Headstrong connects individuals to a nationwide network of trauma-informed clinical partners who deliver individualized, evidence-based outpatient care tailored to each client.
We have provided support to more than 26,000 Special Forces families since inception.
We have invested over $28 Million supporting our community.
We continue to invest 84% (84 cents of every dollar) into our programs and services.
