First Sergeant (Retired) Andrew “Q” Bosanquet’s military journey began in 2000 when he enlisted in the Infantry. Q served in the 25th Infantry Division’s Long-Range Surveillance Detachment, the 82nd Airborne Division, and eventually made his way to Special Forces Assessment And Selection (SFAS) in 2005, followed by the completion of the Special Forces Qualification Course (SFQC) in 2006. This led him to his Special Forces career with the 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne). Q joined a Combat Dive Team ODA 185, and deployed to both Iraq and Afghanistan. His resilience was tested on multiple fronts, setting the stage for the ultimate trial in Afghanistan in 2010.
In the aftermath of the severe injuries suffered during the Afghanistan deployment, including broken limbs, a fractured back, right ankle and calcaneus, right hip, a traumatic brain injury, and mild burns, Q found himself at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. Here, the Green Beret Foundation‘s casualty support program provided critical support, easing the financial burden of travel and logistics necessary for his recovery.
Q’s left leg was the most severely hurt, requiring additional therapies and care; his journey to recovery was far from over. Andrew was still determined to make a comeback, leading him to San Antonio’s Brooke Army Medical Center and the Center for the Intrepid. Here he would undergo Advanced Physical Therapy, where limb-salvage techniques became a driving force of hope to regain his mission readiness. During his time in San Antonio, Q was balancing recovery, household responsibilities, and a PCS move to Hawaii, bringing logistical challenges; this is where the Green Beret Foundation and Q’s paths crossed again, offering invaluable assistance during a time of stress.
Amidst the complexities, Q faced further setbacks with a major infection affecting his left leg, eventually undergoing a below-the-knee amputation. Undeterred, he undertook extensive physical therapy, emerging stronger than ever. After a series of tests and with the approval of the 1st SFG (A) leadership, he paved the way for his return to an ODA. Rejoining the 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne) as a Team Sergeant within A Company, 2nd Battalion, Andrew’s journey came full circle with deployments in support of SOCFWD-Yemen and Resolute Support Mission-Afghanistan.
Q finished out his career as the First Sergeant for SOCPAC from 2019 to 2021, and finally retiring in March of 2022. His exemplary 22-year military career concluded, but a new chapter began as one of the founding members and the CEO of Bosanquet Company LLC, a real estate holding company specializing in short-term rentals based in Hawaii.
Q’s commitment to giving back remained unwavering. Inspired by the Green Beret Foundation’s support during his darkest hours, he pledged to raise funds through Bosanquet Company LLC. This initiative aimed to offer someone the opportunity to restore, reconnect, and relax at one of their vacation properties in the heart of Waikiki, Oahu, Hawaii—a tangible expression of Q’s enduring spirit and his mission to provide support to those facing their most challenging moments.“I wouldn’t have made it through my recovery and back to a team without the GBF and their support. They were there for me and my family in some really difficult, dark times and I know they’ve been there for hundreds more! I owe a lot to GBF and this is my way to give back!”
