In 2019, the Green Beret Foundation collaborated with the Department of Neurosurgery at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai to study the unique risk factors and exposures U.S. Army Special Forces (SF) has been experiencing. Today we are proud to announce the results of the study about Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and Spinal Cord Injury (SCI). Brain and spine trauma is a severe and enduring threat to Special Forces soldiers. These soldiers sustain a striking 60% of all Special Operations casualties. The long-term health of a Green Beret’s mind, body, spirit, and family are of the utmost importance to the Foundation. We will continue to drive the advancement of research in neurological injury through our partnership with the Special Forces Neurosurgery Collaborative.
