JOB SUMMARY
Reporting directly to the President & CEO, the Director of Logistics & Protocol (“DLP”) leads and sustains trusted relationships across all U.S. Army Special Forces Groups in a highly professional and mission driven manner while ensuring excellence in formal engagements, communications, and inter-organizational coordination. This senior leadership role is central to the Green Beret Foundation’s (“GBF” or “Foundation”) strategic growth and credibility within the Special Forces community, serving as a connective force between the Regiment and the programs that support its Soldiers and their families.
Drawing on a strong background in military culture, executive coordination, and relationship management, the DLP will represent the Foundation with humility, precision, and purpose—building lasting connections and ensuring that all engagements reflect the values and professionalism of the Special Forces Regiment. Additionally, the DLP will establish and implement robust monitoring and evaluation systems to track outcomes and prepare regular reports for key stakeholders.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Regimental Engagement & Relationship Management
- Serve as GBF’s principal liaison to all U.S. Army Special Forces Groups, maintaining clear, consistent, and respectful communication with command teams, Family Readiness Groups (FRGs), and other internal stakeholders.
- Represent the Foundation in-person at installations, unit functions, and key briefings—strengthening relationships and reinforcing mission alignment.
- Serve as a trusted resource for Special Forces commands, advising on ways the Foundation can support emerging needs and initiatives.
Protocol & Representation
- Uphold and implement protocol standards for all interactions involving military leadership, Gold Star families, veteran communities, and institutional partners.
- Prepare briefing materials, correspondence, and formal communications to ensure alignment with military expectations and professional standards.
- Advise Foundation leadership on appropriate conduct, structure, and etiquette when engaging with current or former members of the Regiment.
Event Strategy, Fundraising Support & Execution
- Partner closely with the Stewardship and Strategic Events Coordinator (and other members of the Development Team) to support the planning, execution, and follow-through of all Foundation-hosted and Regiment-aligned events.
- Provide leadership-level support for fundraising initiatives by helping to identify key community stakeholders, coordinating VIP engagement, and ensuring military protocol is upheld throughout all engagements.
- Oversee the Foundation’s presence at strategic events—whether in-person or virtual—ensuring consistency of message, mission alignment, and professional representation.
- Participate in venue coordination, run-of-show development, guest list refinement, and on-site management for both donor-facing and community-focused events.
- Ensure seamless integration of military guests, command representatives, and Regiment personnel into event programming, honoring customs and expectations of the Special Forces community.
- Support post-event stewardship by collaborating on thank-you communications, debrief reports, and documentation of engagement outcomes for internal use and donor follow-up.
Strategic Community Relations
- Identify and foster collaborative opportunities with community groups, veteran organizations, and military support services that enhance the Foundation’s reach and relevance.
- Develop and maintain a living map of relationships across the Special Forces community to ensure continuity and awareness across leadership transitions.
- Partner with communications and program staff to reflect Regiment-aligned messaging and highlight the Foundation’s role as a trusted, nonpartisan support organization.
Internal Coordination & Growth Support
- Provide insight and feedback from the field to inform program design, resource allocation, and leadership decisions.
- Track and report engagement efforts, community needs, and command feedback in a structured, shareable format while working closely with the Programs and Services Manager and the VSO Team Lead.
- Support executive-level planning and participation in Regiment-based initiatives and engagements as needed.
- Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment, emphasizing teamwork, growth, and a commitment to our mission.
Evaluation and Reporting
- Establish and implement robust monitoring and evaluation systems to outcomes and impact.
- Prepare regular reports for the executive team, board of directors, funders, and other stakeholders to demonstrate program achievements and areas for growth.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 8+ years of experience in military community relations, protocol, logistics, executive coordination, or nonprofit stakeholder engagement.
- Demonstrated logistics management and planning skills with experience planning complex events / activities with a high degree of attention to detail, customer service, and professionalism.
- History of success working with or supporting U.S. Special Forces units or similar high-tempo military environments.
- Deep understanding of military customs/cultures, structure, and communication, particularly within the U.S. Army Special Forces Regiment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Military Science, Communications, Business Administration or a related field.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and diplomacy skills; able to work across rank, role, and responsibility with discretion.
- Emotionally intelligent with ability to skillfully navigate complex situations while building build strong, effective relationships within and outside of the Foundation in a collaborative and supportive environment.
- Seasoned professional with ability to operate calmly under pressure, proactively, and respectfully of protocol while deeply aligning with mission.
- Willingness and ability to travel to Special Forces Group locations and other events as needed.
PREFERRED ATTRIBUTES:
- Military spouse, veteran, or professional background within the Special Forces community.
- Experience in nonprofit or governmental engagement with a focus on military or veteran support services.
- Familiarity with the geographic and organizational layout of U.S. Army Special Forces Groups.
WORKING HOURS & TRAVEL:
The DLP Position works a 40-hour week. Some evening and weekend hours will be needed on occasion to meet the needs of the Green Beret Foundation community and the strategic goals of the organization. Travel is generally regional but will from time to time include attendance at key events and meetings throughout the United States, overnight travel. The DLP position is required to be within commutable distance of U.S. Army Garrison Fort Bragg in the Southern Pines / Fayetteville Area of North Carolina.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
This position reports directly to the President & CEO, who will develop a set of performance objectives in partnership with the DLP.
