The Green Beret Foundation is proud to announce the upcoming release of “Unknown Heroes: Behind Enemy Lines At D-Day,” an official production of the Green Beret Foundation’s Jedburgh Media Channel. This highly anticipated program delves into the extraordinary stories of the Operational Groups and the Jedburgh Teams, whose crucial roles and sacrifices were instrumental to the success of the Allied invasion during World War II.
Hosted by Green Beret Fran Racioppi and featuring senior-most US Army Special Forces leaders, this documentary highlights the pivotal contributions and heroic efforts of our first special operators in defeating the Axis powers. “Unknown Heroes” aims to raise awareness of the Green Beret Foundation’s mission while educating and honoring our predecessors who paved the way for freedom.
Scheduled to broadcast on over 200 stations nationwide, streaming platforms, and the Armed Forces Network, viewers are encouraged to check their local listings for air times from June 1 to June 9. Many stations will feature the program on the afternoons of Saturday or Sunday, June 1 or 2, and June 8 or 9.
On June 6, 1944, nearly 160,000 Allied soldiers from 16 nations launched Operation Overlord, the largest amphibious operation in history, marking a significant turning point in World War II. Concurrently, three-man teams known as Jedburghs parachuted behind German lines into occupied France to conduct sabotage and subversion operations alongside French Resistance Forces. As we approach the 80th anniversary of D-Day, the world will once again honor the bravery and sacrifices of those who fought against tyranny on those historic beaches.
“The airing of ‘Unknown Heroes: Behind Enemy Lines At D-Day’ is a testament to the unwavering courage and commitment of the special operators of that era. We are honored to share these remarkable stories with the world and to highlight the significant impact of the Green Beret Foundation’s mission through the Jedburgh Media Channel. We are also incredibly grateful to our sponsors who made this experience possible,” said Charlie Iacono, President and CEO of the Green Beret Foundation.
“The efforts of Operation Jedburgh were instrumental in the disruption of German defenses across Normandy and set the standard for the formation of American Special Forces,” said Creator and Host Fran Racioppi.
Lieutenant General Ken Tovo, Chairman of the Green Beret Foundation’s Board of Directors, added, “This documentary serves as a profound reminder of the legacy and heroism of our earliest special operators and America’s Greatest Generation. By sharing these stories, we honor their memory and inspire future generations to continue their noble work. The Green Beret Foundation remains committed to supporting all who have served and their families.”
Join us on the Jedburgh Media Channel as we recount these powerful stories and inspire the next generation of Green Berets to serve with honor and distinction.
